10 Profit Keys
These papers provide notes for the accompanying presentation slides.
It is a 45 minute presentation given to small and medium business owners with the objective of providing practical tools they can use in their business for their increasing business profits.
It takes the user through a structured profit framework to use to review their business profit performance by assessing the main drivers behind it.
Then 10 tools ("Keys") are presented that can be undertaken to improve the profitability of the business.
It is also important to note that these are not the panacea for business success in that they do not cover people, systems, etc. but are targeted firmly at profit improvement.
The keys are a subset of what Finalytics could use in a business but are among the most common and effective we use for most businesses.
They were also chosen to cover at least one aspect of the profit framework. They can be seen as part of a total program or as standalone projects.
If from this presentation and supporting documentation you find there are 2-3 new initiatives to do in your business I have no doubt that business profits will be improved. The degree of which will depend on the business, the quality of the analysis, and most importantly - the implementation.
You will see from the client case studies on our website that we often achieve business profit improvement of over 100% over reasonably short periods of time.
Readers will need to decide what Keys to use, and when, and this is typically done after an initial analysis or preferably after the Financial Skim (Key 4).
Every business is different and you have to work out priorities – a business can’t do everything and each will get different priority at a different time. With our clients we try to have 2-3 running at any one time. Anymore than this and the effectiveness is diminished and business resources are unreasonably stretched.
Over the next several weeks a supporting paper will be written for each Key and added to this site. These will give the reader enough insight to at least consider how to apply them to their business and depending on business complexity and resources be able to use them stand alone.
